VARDENI

Of the rose, and the keeping of it.

this week, on the shelf
The word

Վարդենիvardení

From the Armenian — a place where roses grow.

On care

A flower has a few quiet hours
after it leaves the field.

We try to keep them.

  1. I.

    Cool, not cold.

Flowers prefer the temperature of an early-spring morning. We keep them there.

  2. II.

    Still air, gently moved.

Drafts age a petal faster than time. The chamber breathes slowly, like a sleeping room.

  3. III.

    Light enough to read by.

We never bleach the colours with showroom light. What you see is what was grown.

  4. IV.

    Few hands.

Cut at the farm, tied at the studio, placed on the shelf. No middle counter.
